When you are hurt, there is deep emotional energy inside you. You are the creator of your DESTINY and your family’s destiny. You can either chose to drink yourself to death to soothe that fire in you or you can HARNESS it and become an amazing human being.

My mentor Vinod Sethi said in an interview that stock markets will fluctuate and can really take you for a ride emotionally. So you can either treat it like a meditation and be unattached or you can kill yourself because of it.

People call the goddess as Shakti - meaning ENERGY. You have energy in your self right NOW. It is very powerful. Don’t mistreat yourself. Be fair to all and especially yourself.

Respect the learnings. Document the learnings. You have to move on. You must. RIGHT NOW.

The BEST WAY TO MAKE THE PAIN STOP IS TO ACCEPT IT AND EMBRACE IT ACTUALLY. Cry Profusely and let all the emotions come and flow out from you. Don’t try to avoid the pain, embrace it. It is ,in my view, a better friend than Happiness.

I watch Swades, Rockstar, Jab We Met, Taare Zameen Par generally and I like the Pursuit of Happyness as well.

I was once revived from something painful by just watching a movie called Dear Zindagi. When I was in college , I remember sometimes feeling like crying , but I used to swallow all emotions and think I will cry later. Now even when I am in my office, if I feel sad or hurt - I walk to the washroom - go inside a toilet stall - take support of a wall - and cry - let those emotions out. YES.

Immerse yourself in something , something which will make you think a lot - like

The Stock Markets

Tinkle Comics

Books and Great Movies

Leetcode

System Design if learnt from Udit Agarwal of Engine Bogie

Attend weekend class of something you like.

Teach someone.

Watch all interviews of Shahrukh Khan. I go back often to 90s interviews. His voice then and his

confidence, there is a lot to learn from that man.

Similarly what all college commencements of Mr Warren Buffet. His video with Bill Gates in Dairy Queen. The last 50 years of Berkshire Hathway AGMs - my god I love them. There is GOLD GOLD GOLD in his speeches and writings.

Read the Gita.

Listen to the 3 hours podcast from Naval Ravikant titled - “How to Get Rich”

When I hear about other people’s pain and grief - my pain looks like a tiny bit. It helps to shift your focus from the girl, the boss, the pain, the addiction , the lost family member, the anger and the drama. I have scientific proof that it works !

Read the stoics. Reading Epictetus and Benjamin Franklin has been a source of light for me in dark times. My best purchase till today (I am 29 on 17th Oct 2025) have been a small book worth a dollar of Benjamin Franklin quotes. It is worth a billion dollars if someone lives the quotes and principles.

IMPORTANT - Move. Exercise. Walk. Run with music. Let the endorphins kick in . Its great. Explore Coldplay (. explore Owl city. Focus on the lyrics.

Your brain keeps reminding you stuff because it does not want to clear the RAM. It wants to hold on. Write and document everything in your memory from the start about that THING/EVENT. Then keep it in a diary. Now your brain can delete it from the RAM. At 29, I write and then I tear those pages. Its upto you if you want to keep it.

If some senior is tormenting you , there are 2 ways. If you feel he is wrong - Complain about him / her . If you feel , he is a talented person and you want to be like him and to learn from him you have to bear the thorns of a rose - NO . You have to tell him later not now when you are emotional - that you felt hurt in a joking manner - but your eyes should have that intensity of a serial killer. Also , drink water - a lot of it. It helps to soothe the hurt or pain at that EXACT moment.

If you are sad because you did not get the GIRL or the BOY - I have realized one thing after living for 29 years. Repeat with me - Human Beings pursue things which they feel are good for them. If they are not with you, they simply pursued what they felt is better for them. Good for them. What is the big deal here!

Life moves on.

If it did not happen with that person , it was not meant to be yaar. Fuck it. Move on. Life is great and has amazing human beings across NOT your city or country but the world. You need to LEVEL UP.

Work on becoming better - The best way to get a GOOD SPOUSE is to be one.

As a man thinketh, so is his / her life. “We create our fortune and call it FATE.”

You are the creator of your destiny and remember , God helps only those who help themselves.

The wrong way to think - “How unfortunate I am, that this has happened to me!”

The right way to think - Not at all—rather, “How fortunate I am, that although this has happened to me I am still unhurt, neither broken by the present nor dreading what is to come.” - Marcus Aurelius.

"Don’t insist that what happens should happen as you wish; wish that things happen as they actually happen. Then your life will go well."

And Finally I ask / beg / request and demand you to fall in love with yourself. Take care of yourself. Fix yourself. And my mother believes that often what I say with pure conviction becomes true , so today on the 17th of October 2025 - I , Aadhar , bless you the reader that you will heal, the pain is going to stop and good fortune lies ahead for you. I bless you that all your hearts desires will come true which are good for you actually and BELIEVE ME YOU ARE GOING TO HEAL AND BE REALLY HAPPY & FULLFILLED IN LIFE.

Believe in God for God is the giver of all things - good and bad. In this process of creation and destruction - progress and self growth happens. The only reason this event occurred in your life is to teach you. It blessed you with the lesson. Pick that lesson and move on.

Zindagi bahot badi hai dost. And the Universe is extremely compassionate to those who learn the lessons it tries to teach. 💎

Be organized to the T . Exhaustively use the Microsoft One Note. You should be able to able to tell all about the task done 2 years back and that is possible with prudent use of technology like One Note.

Become Antifragile and Learn Continuously.

People will try to hurt your self image and confidence.

Be indestructible by becoming so good at one thing that you can say F**k you to the world if you really have to. Learn . Apply yourself. The human mind is extremely powerful and the good news is - you have one.

Invest in yourself and do not listen to the world. All of us have that potential given enough resources. You can achieve anything you set your mind to. Believe it.

Become Financially independent.

There will come times when you will make mistakes.

People will say shit to you which you will take to heart and start to doubt yourself.

If there is a lot of blame in the air, there is a high chance you are in a toxic environment.

I pleaded with my parents to let me leave my first job at TCS at 21.

I would do GATE, CAT or whatever required to get out and get in a healthy culture where there is respect for me and where I am taught and mentored not just simply blamed.

No dice.

In the end , there came a day when I had enough of all that bullshit and went to my manager and resigned.

Sometimes I think what would have happened if I did not have that courage. And I did it in the most respectful way giving the excuse of an MBA which I was too poor to pursue. My upbringing is to take pain and never give pain :/

The lesson, children is, if you have money, you have choice . A choice to breathe. A choice to work with high quality individuals of your fields. A choice to dream and do the fucking thing you wanna do.

Go and learn about Naval Ravikant and his famous 3 hours monologue on “How to Get Rich” and Mr. Warren Buffett. They are the best mentors you can get in this field. They are my mentors. If you are serious , go watch the 3 hours monologue video. Its right there on Youtube but will you ?

In the long term , Life is absolutely fair.

You are the architect of your destiny.

God helps those who help themselves.

Your quality of life is determined by the quality of decisions you will make.

Will you get drunk and beat your wife and kids OR will you make sure to act as to become someone your children will respect and cherish (like my father)

Great is them who - who know the future consequences of their present actions.

Treat everyone with respect. The universe is wired to show love to those beings which treat its children with respect. The universe conspires to help such a person.

You can NEVER have what you CAN NOT give. This single line ,as I found out, is how the universe works. When you donate money, its a signal to the universe I GIVE money - which means I HAVE money. Not the most rational thing for an engineer to write, but somehow I have found this to be true.

The TATA Group gives a percentage of its profits to charity since a century. It does not do any business which harms any human being. It is therefore not only surviving but also successful.

Life is a lot parts luck. If you see someone is suffering . Be a candle in their darkness.

They might take advantage of you - so what ? Life keeps a track. Your self image keeps a track. Do your duty and not think of the fruits it will bear.

Everything is cyclical - I have seen my father giving speeches as Assistant Vice President of a UK Bank , taking morning flights and going to London for most of my childhood. And I have seen my father crying one day with indescribable immense grief that whatever he did for the last 20 years of his life has been waste. There will be lots of high and lows. Be steadfast.

Let people call you ******. I have realized after living for 29 years that “In life , very very very few things matter - the people you love , the people who love you, your health, your finances.”

People’s opinions are just opinions.

People have opinion about political parties and leaders and actors when they themselves are wage slaving for the last 15 years in a system which is guaranteed to keep them chained like this for the next 20 years as well. I sometimes laugh when I think of these people . I am one of them.

Every action is a seed . What you sow , you will have to reap in the near future.

Let each action which flows from you be from the place of love and giving and not FEAR. If you are doing something because of fear - A Big Red Flag. A Big One , my dear.

Life is fair , absolutely fair.

Take the feedback. The feedback I got was to become more organized. To show more confidence. And to not ask the same things again.

I started documenting everything in One Note and my notepads.

I started watching lots of Shah Rukh Khan interviews for the confidence. And focused on learning development to come out of the sewer that is support.

I started making processes which make sure that I deliver on time. Like Reminder apps. Like scheduling events on calendars. Like writing things down. Like actually raising questions if I did not understand something.

I tried to become more authentic and found out that I am a better English teacher than a support Systems Analyst.

I quit TCS. Made sure to lie to my manager about my plan of an MBA which was required for my marriage and not tell the actual reason that the culture was full of blame and my throat burns the moment I enter the ODC full of anxiety. This way , I did not, alas, improve them but at least not hurt their confidence like they did to me.

The interesting part , my lead informed to the HR who was responsible for my clearance that - I was not worth retaining. HR said this on my face.

What hurt more was they cut short my resignation period because I had planned my life with the salary that was going to come from those months.

And the most brutal - They shredded my ID card Infront of my eyes. It was like a trophy for my father at some point of my life when I joined. I was emotionally attached to it.

Told my mother after a week of quitting. She cried profusely and I had nothing better to say and blurted out that “I promise mumma whatever I earn in TCS in 1 month, I will earn from next month.”

Covid came. I got a call from a Bangalore based education startup called My Captain - a Part of IIM B seed investment called Climber. They wanted me to teach C++ to 200 students through zoom.

God made my promise to my maa true . I earned by spending 2 hours in a week what I used to earn in a month of toiling at my 12 hours job in TCS.

I was also learning Full stack development from my mentor Arnav Gupta on the side. And opened an account on Instagram called “englishkatution” . I put out summaries of lessons of CBSE 11 and 12 English on it and interestingly it blew up in Assam !

I used to teach English to students from Assam in the morning. Afternoon was my learning classes of Web D with Arnav bhaiya and in the night 7pm I used to teach 200 students about C++.

That was essentially my covid.

Then came the biggest blow. My father lost his job and he asked me to take up a job as soon as possible. I was not in a position to say no because the whole family’s future was at risk. Good things were happening to me but still with my father’s job gone and my teaching income around 20k to 30k a month was not enough. My brother was in Amity University doing BBA LLB. Now I had to pay for everything ,which I did , happily :()

All that authenticity shit goes out of the window when bad times come. It was more emotionally bad than it was financially bad. My father was at that position from 1999. He loved it. He setup the office teams in Chennai when he was 40. And now when he was 50. The company was letting him go !

I had no experience of Development but only one certificate of this course. I got a promise of hire from Nagarro as a Java developer. Which they never fulfilled . The job opening got cancelled due to covid.

Finally I had to take up a night shift job as Technical Support Engineer at a Bangalore based consultancy called Access Automation Ltd which deployed me to Informatica Bangalore BUT as a night shift CONTINGENT WORKER.

Informatica was the answer to my prayers. The culture completely blameless. My boss used to sit in Texas . I was treated with respect and given enough time to learn things and apply them. My peers were from Germany and Bangalore and were amazing and all were RCB fanatics somehow. We used to work till 3am and then play together some games like Mini Militia or PubG . Those were crazy times. Now all of them are married and asleep by 10 pm !!!!

I got to know there is something called 1 on 1s where you can tell how you feel about working in the company. My manager once remarked that “you write emails in such a professional way that I would never want to be against you”.

After an year of working, they asked me to join them full time as an FTE. But in the same night shift. I was getting severe acidity and felt like there was something stuck in my throat. This is a medical condition called GERD. Unfortunately I had to leave. But this time I was treated really nicely.

On my last day at Informatica, my manager told me that he would be happy to have me back anytime if I wanted. This is the sign of a great company !

Now I waned a pure developer job which somehow at that time I thought was better than any kind of support job . Which I know now is not true. People you work with make a job better or worse. Not tiles. And I wanted day shift to avoid that acidity thing.

This time again, fortune favored me. I got an offer from NatWest Group Bangalore where they promised me that they will give me an opportunity to work on development tasks (25% of my bandwidth) and rest of my task will be Change Management.

I was put in time where people were from Edenborough (Scotland) , Chennai and one from Bangalore. Here I worked for sometime and then got an Internal Job Position opportunity on to a pure development role at NatWest Group Gurgaon.

Only one condition - there was no salary hike and had to join as a junior software developer. I literally thanked Kuldeep (sir) to give me this opportunity and told him - I am on , where do I sign.

I worked there for the next 2 years and learned what is application development for an enterprise.

NatWest Group was a Great experience on all fronts - work, people , shift, food at RBS aka NatWest Group. I got someplace to get hands-on experience which is the MOST VALUABLE THING FOR A DEVELOPER. Not Certificates. Not AWS credits. Not even salary.

Next I read a tweet from Amul Badjatiya - who told if you don’t earn this much salary as a this much experienced developer - you are severely underpaid.

And next I got a phone call from Hyderabad DBS Hiring team . They wanted me to join their tech team as a Full Stack developer for their product called Paylah! (! is in the name) .

I quoted the figure from Amul’s tweet. And the HR declined immediately.

Finally she agreed for a little lesser but which was like an 60% hike for me at that time and I for the first time in my life went to Hyderabad.

There is a particular incident in DBS (2023) Cafeteria where I was sitting on a table and having breakfast when a girl looked at me and commented - “Ye to shakal se hi developer lagta hai” .

LOL . I know it is not the best comment a man can get. Haha. But for 2019 Aadhar who only aim was to transition from support to development, this was the best compliment. 2023 Aadhar could only take this as a complement.

In Hyderabad, I met few people like my two managers at DBS Bank and few at Experian whom literally changed the course of my whole life. I cant give you numbers because that is not polite but going to Hyderabad was significant for my net worth and self worth.

And now I am a Software Engineer 2 in Gurgaon and I like what I do. My father owns a hardware store and he is happy too. My mother is happy that for the most of the day we both are out of the house. I still strive to be useful, learn as well as teach and sing the song as I preach.

Make many baskets.

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man There are only four things certain since Social Progress began. That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire, And the burnt Fool's bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire. ~ The Gods of the Copybook Headings, Rudyard Kipling.

Making many baskets simply means that if you have Rs 100 to invest. Do not go overboard and put more than Rs 20 i.e. 20% in one company. Stock markets are “FUGAAZI”. Lots of dreams . Future is uncertain. Follow the 1/5 rule of DIVERSIFICATION strictly. Not more than 1/5 of your investable capital into one company stock.

The key to winning in life and the stock market is to understand yourself. What kind of risk can you handle? Will your peace vanish if you hold only 3 businesses? Example - One day I read about something the promoter of one of my small cap companies said about cutting dividends which I thought was unfair to minority shareholders. I had a fever back then which turned out to be a serious UTI later on urine test. But the important point is I could not handle that and sold my entire position on a whim. Did that turn out well later? Yes. Was that a wise move? No, you can not make impulsive decisions.

Investing outcomes are luck driven. So, the answer is Know yourself and diversify.

Charlie Munger has his money in majorly 3 stocks - Berkshire, Costco and Lilu’s Fund.

“Diversification is protection against ignorance,” Buffett said. “It makes little sense if you know what you are doing.”

Guy Spier has his money not more than like 5% in one bet. This makes more sense given we are neither Charlie Munger nor the Berkshire’s Warren Buffet.

Personally, if I am taking a big bet than that company should not be risky. Example - If I buy a company with 50% of my total capital, then that company needs to be like a Nestle. Which balances the risk. But each to his own. And I study that company in great detail , its share price track record and figure out a system to value it and find a price to enter the stock when downside is limited.

INVESTING are a loser’s game. Which means people who survive in the market are bound to do good given the growth of India. More than high returns, you need take care of high risk. If you stay in the market in great businesses in growing industries and hoping you did not overpay - you are going to make money, a lots of it in next 5-10 years. But if you put all capital in 1 or 2 small cap companies, there a big chance that you will get detonated. Avoid high risk and automatically you will make money.

Don't let the market push you out.

Make Asymmetric Bets.

Always look for Asymmetry when making the bet. Asymmetry means Unlimited upside with limited downside. Or at least risk/reward skewed in your favor.

Today I see Kotak bank’s Price to Bank is even lesser than the covid’s level when Uday Kotak sold a little portion of his stock to protect the company and increase the capital adequacy ratio. What is the downside at current price for Kotak (2nd Aug 2025) - very little if you ask me . There is a high chance it may be a good bet. But this is not a tip. Its a way to think about risk and reward.

Read about Naval Ravikant and see what he has said on Asymmetric Bets.

Markets fluctuate. You are dealing with FIRE. Keep your Head.

Stock Market is a place to BE AUTHENTIC and joyfully make your PAINTING.

The beauty of stock market is that it is NOT a ZERO-SUM GAME. It is NOT a COMPETITION. If I can make money, you can also make money at the same time. We both can benefit and grow together. Magic. Like the blessing of Godess Lakshmi.

Fortunes require leverage. Business leverage comes from capital, people, and products with no marginal cost of replication (code and media). Capital means money. To raise money, apply your specific knowledge, with accountability, and show resulting good judgment. ~ Naval Ravikant

Stock Market is LEVERAGE PERSONIFIED. So Be Very Careful. It is extremely powerful. Like a knife in the right hands can be used to cut vegetables, fight wars, do surgeries with precision. But in the wrong hands, the same Knife can also be used to wrongfully hurt others in a robbery. You are dealing with FIRE. Good Judgement is awarded here NOT HARD WORK.

Play the game sincerely but not seriously. Do not take any mental load from Stock Market. Instead, make it as a canvas for your painting. Draw your intuitions here. Invest in businesses you like, people you like.

Believe in its power. It rewards original thinking and authenticity unlike the real world. See it is as a place to meditate not a place where you are to make money. Play the game, have fun, make good decisions. As a result, you will make money. But aim should not be making money. But to find great businesses, understand them, understand the people who run them, understand the risks and moat and make the bet. You will be rewarded for your conviction and right decisions.

Do NOT track the market daily. There is a term called “CIRCLE THE WAGONS” which means Invest in Great businesses and forget. Maybe you can track them quarterly but daily is not RECOMMENDED.

Markets can make you go anxiously mad or keep you in a meditative state. When all your positions are great businesses run by FANATIC managements, and each position is less than 5% of your capital. Why worry - WHAT IS LEFT TO BE DONE NOW?

Live my Friend. Play Golf. Do Yoga. Immerse yourself in doing things you love. Once you have done the work, stay invested for the long term. Trust the Market. Circle The Wagons.

Avoid Debt. Avoid the Self Goal.

Beware of Amazon.

Amazon is a gorilla with a crazy track record of disrupting businesses in India and the US. Can Amazon come tomorrow in your industry and replicate your business within Amazon by pouring billions of dollars and sell similar products like you and then gradually attack your margins and take away your customers by giving insane discounts?

If the answer is YES , this means the business does NOT have a MOAT or a competitive edge. Remember, if the business you own has high profit margins ie high Returns on Capital Employed ROCE %, it is a natural sequence of events that some or other giant corporate group is going to find it, attack your business and strip your margins. Amazon’s tag line in the last decade was “Your margin is my opportunity”.

Can Amazon open a bank - Unlikely RBI will grant it a license.

Can Amazon open a soft drink or burger or tiers business - maybe .

Can Amazon owns ports in India - highly unlikely

Can Amazon open a new Naukri or Tips Music - but where will it all the data from that Naukri has built over 2 decades .

Can Amazon open an NBFC lending personal loans . maybe in JV but where will it get the loan book that Bajaj and Chola have spent last 2 decades to grow and polish. Where will it get the risk culture in lending from ? So Amazon will never open a successful NBFC in India directly in my view. But see Jio did. Remember, a simple rule - The faster a Bank / NBFC / lending institution grows, the riskier decisions its taking to achieve that growth. VERY HIGH GROWTH is a RED FLAG in lending Banks or NBFCs. So, IDFC is riskier than HDFC ? Yes it is . Even AU Small Finance is riskier because it lends to HIGH RISK customers. This is a risk reward thing. Higher the risk , higher the reward.

There is a great company called Arman Financial. Its a microcap lending to highly risky customer with NO CREDIT ratings. Even though it’s a great management and a great opportunity, there is extreme RISK in this business model. The chances of Default are very high. So, the chances of investor’s capital going to ZERO is very high. MICROFINANCE and SMALL FINANCE BANKS is a strict NO as an industry to invest. WHY? Because I do intend to reap the rewards of my invested capital one day. And HIGH RISK means HIGH VOLATILITY means HIGH Blood Pressure. I would be very happy and peaceful owning HDFC and ICICI giving me 10-12% share price appreciation over the next 10 years.

A moat simply means having a competitive advantage which other businesses don't have not now and extremely hard to replicate in the future even with huge bags of money. Which ensures that your business becomes better with time , consistently better sales , consistently better margins and consistently better earnings growth in the future. This will drive share price appreciation in the next 3 to 5 years which is why we are all here : )

A competitive advantage can be a BRAND , BANKING LICENSE , US FDA APPROVAL. It can even be great person with decades of experience running the business. Example - Where in the world will you get the MD of Bajaj Finance Mr. Rajiv Jain , the Champion of Champions 🏆. Where will you get an honest bank like HDFC Bank. A governing body like RBI which makes sure no bank does any sort of hanky panky like Yes Bank did or the Indusind Bank did in 2025. Where will you get ethics like the Tata Group , the Gold loan expertise like the Muthoots from Kerela. The integrity of the Murugappas. These kinds of Competitive advantages CAN NOT be ever replicated.

Most importantly a business with a competitive advantage has PRICING POWER, which essentially means that your business is able to sell its products at higher prices every year - increasing profit margins and in turns earnings growth for your company. If a company is able to increase the prices of its products without losing its customers to competition - you are sitting on a gold mine . But my friend make sure to buy it at a fair price with a margin of safety so that you survive if it's a wrong decision. No one is going to buy Nestle India , Titan and HUL at the ridiculous valuation it trades and make huge money. Maybe in Titan if lab grown diamonds risk is averted somehow but at your own risk. Best of Luck 🍀.

The most important metric to look in a business is that if a Mukesh Ambani / Gautam Adani / Jeff Bezos comes with billions of dollars to replicate your business model within Amazon, will the business be able to protect its margins?

The financial ratios to track to check if a company has some kind of competitive advantage are ROCE(should be north of 30%) , ROE (should be north of 25%) and Terms of Trade.

If a business has very strong terms of trade like Negative Working Capital Cycle, then its a great business. A negative working capital cycle is great. In some industries, like grocery retail, this is common. For example, a grocery store might receive cash from customers immediately upon sale but have a longer period to pay its suppliers for the goods. This is excellent. In comparison to an IT employee who first works the whole month and then receives the salary.

If a business does not have a moat or competitive advantage, it will also be treated like an IT employee - Night Deployments, Work from Home, Work from Office, OK now work 2 days from home 3 days from office , Now 5 days from Office. Ok now attend calls till 10 pm in the night - no f****ing pricing power at all ! 🤓

All Jokes.

High Dividends Equals Low Growth.

High Dividends is a BUG not a FEATURE. If the company gives huge dividends like 1% of share price, it simply means company does not have any levers of future growth. It also means company management is honest and respects Minority Shareholders. But Remember, Stock Market rewards businesses which have levers of high earnings which comes from Growth. If you want your money to grow like north of 15% CAGR YOY, you have to allocate your capital prudently with market leading businesses which can execute Earnings growth north of 20% year on year . ROE and ROCE 25% min for the last three and five years. This ROE and ROCE tells me that company is working prudently and has some kind of moat.

Berkshire Hathaway gives 0 dividends. Why ? Because the management is great. It feels if it gives dividends, government will eat some of shareholder money as taxes. It does not want that to happen. Instead of returning money back to shareholders, they prudently invest in new lines of businesses around the world which makes the Berkshire stock go up and the shareholders are rewarded handsomely. This does not mean that if a company does not give dividends, it is a great company. No, not necessarily. It can very well be a fraud. Don’t assume anything in the stock market.

HDFC Bank gives 1% as dividend every year. Means if you put 1000 rupees in HDFC Bank, it will send back 10 Rs every year till your lifetime as dividends. Why so much dividend because now it grows lesser than the 1990s and 2000s avatar of HDFC Bank. Here , it deems fair to give back as dividends.

Chola gives 0.30% dividend and Bajaj Finance gives 0.50% dividend. Why ? Because the managements see new avenues of growth and can open new lines of businesses with shareholders capital . This is the Nirvana you are seeking. 2x Share price appreciation in the next 5 years. F**k dividends. Growth is Life.

If you can get high conviction managements like the Murugappas and the Divis and the Bajaj in sunrise industries with earnings growth north of 15% for the next 5 to 10 years. You are set for life assuming you did not overpay a lot for the stock. This is the meaning of Buy a wonderful business at a fair price.

And above all, NEVER EVER COMPROMISE WITH MANAGEMENT QUALITY FOR HIGH GROWTH. Better is to look for a company with relatively less growth like a 15% earnings growth, a good moat and 15% Sales growth YOY but run by an HONEST and CAPABLE management team in an industry/ business model you believe in. If you keep for 10 years in the portfolio (dividends reinvested) with PATIENCE will also make you 4x of your invested capital. And it will be a very peaceful journey.

In summary, the Stock market rewards good decisions both by you (investor) and your company’s management team (operator). You primary responsibility as an investor is that you have to wait under the right tree. Patiently. Very Patiently.

As in life and in stock markets - Don't do anything what you don't understand.

CASHFLOW - The life blood of any business

Cashflow is extremely important to tell if the business model is good and will survive the test of time.

The most important thing for a business to survive any black swan event is CASHFLOW . There are two financial ratios to check here -

Cash Flow from Operations (CFO): This measures the cash generated by a company's normal business activities. It reflects the company's capacity to generate enough cash to sustain and expand its operations. A high and stable CFO indicates a healthy and financially stable business model.

Free Cash Flow (FCF): This represents the cash remaining after a company pays for operating expenses and capital investments to support and grow the business. It signifies the company's ability to generate surplus cash beyond its day-to-day operations and capital needs.

Hope is a strict NO NO in the stock market.

There is hope that Motilal Oswal will take up EMT and turn it around.

There is a hope that Idfc bank will become like Hdfc bank.

There is a hope that Jio Financial will be valued at 3-4 times Price to Book like it's peers.

There is a hope that Yes Bank and Vodafone Idea will turnaround.

It is 100% True that if hope is correctly executed, you will get an outsized return. But that rarely happens in the market. Mostly , it turns out to mistake of commision by the investor.

It is extremely hard to consistently make a monthly income from the stock market but it is extremely easy to 4x your money in a decade. I have back tested this with data . You need a 15% YOY share price increase which can be done by any prudent fund manager. I do not claim to hold this capability but I am 100% sure that PPFAS and Nippon AMC fund managers can achieve this for you !

I think of stock market as a place where my capital is productive and happy. I do NOT think of stock market where I can make money. I think it as a place where I can increase my money.

Like Vinod Sethi put it “I am looking for a gusher where I put one dollar today and it rains dollars all my life”.

Lastly, remember that Time is friend of Good business and enemy of bad business. Market rewards good decisions and punishes your bad/wrong decisions. It's that simple and straight forward.

Buy quality businesses with a margin of safety, which essentially means that buy permanent businesses for cheap. This is most overlooked but the most important principle of investing. Buying things cheap gives you room for error. Buying things cheap gives you benefit of both P/E rerating and Earnings growth in a business. It is really powerful if you understand this point.

Titan belongs to the Tatas. Titan is a growing business even as a large cap. But If you buy a thousand pieces of Titan at the ridiculous P/E it trades. And then Lab Grown diamonds kill Titan’s Natural Diamond business. Then you are f**ked. Because share price will fall for next couple of years.

Divis Labs is a great businesses with great moat. It has outstanding promoters and the Son is the CEO, Daughter is the CMO. Again it's a growing business with a long runway. What a wonderful business to own. But here's the catch it trades at 60-70x earnings ie P/E. Now if you buy a thousand pieces of Divis Lab, one outcome is you will end up a rich man after 10 years. But if anything happens like US FDA issue, the share will tank for few years . Why ? Because you are buying it at a very high price with a very less margin of safety.

What is Growth ?

Topline increasing 20 % for last One year, Three years and Five years .

Bottomline increasing 20% for last One year, Three years and Five years.

ROCE and ROE well above 25% tells you that it's a great business with some kind of competent management or a moat.

You don't want to invest in something like HUL which grows by low single digits. Better do an FD .

Be the son of the Tatas and the Bajajs and the Murugappas and the Muthoots. That is the magic of choosing the correct Promoter of the business you are going to own.

Promoter skin in the game -Promoter holding should be significant like they should own 50% and more of the company. They should feel the pain if share price / business does not do well. Unlike Sbi Cards where every 4-5 years , the MD CEO changes. Their family’s future should be invested in that company. Like the Muthoots who build the business for their future generations in mind.

Honest Promoter like Uday Kotak, Murali Divi, Vellayan Subahiya.

Competent Management and Dynamic capabilities of execution of their vision like Radico Khaitan's Abhishek Khaitan.

Rewarding Minority Shareholders should be the promoter’s moral responsibility. Like the Sundaram Group, Bajaj Group, Asian Paints, Hdfc Bank.

As an investor, our single most important responsibility is to allocate our capital to reasonably valued businesses with a long runway for growth run by honest and capable management teams which have hunger in their belly and posses a track record for THE RIGHT CAPITAL ALLOCATION.

Example - The capital allocation of the Murugappas and the Hdfc Group and the Bajaj Group is stellar. Rajiv Jain, Vice President of Bajaj Finance is called the “Champion of the Champions” and his salary is 80% ESOPs. Meaning his incentives as company management are aligned with the retail investors becoming rich. Which is a rare and beautiful thing to find.

How to know if a company does right capital allocation? - This can be answered very easily if you look at the ROE of the company. If it's north of 20% for last one, three and five years then your business’s CEO is doing a good job in allocation and productivity of capital.

I would better throw a viper down my shirt than take a personal loan at 12- 15% to invest in the stock market. It's a NO NO NO. My biggest NO.

Ignorance is NOT Bliss. Know what you own extremely well. Risk is when you don't know what you own.

There are some businesses which go up consistently 12% in the long term and you can own permanently like HDFC Bank/Titan, some which are high growth like Waree Renewable , some which are cyclical like Tata Steel, some which are government owned like IOCL, some which are highly regulated like Alcohol and Tobacco.

If you don't know what you own , then you would not know how to think about that business. Can I own Hdfc Bank for eternity and make money - Yes . Can I own Tata Steel for a decade and make money - No. Reason is because to make money in Hdfc Bank - you have to just hold it for next decade but to make money in Tata Steel , you need to know how to play the steel cycle. Each company is a different type of species. If you know which species your business belongs to , you can synthesize it to make money just like Humans synthesize fire to cook food.

Your word is your bond . If you say you will do and if you dont , people wont trust. Trust is the most valuable thing for an employee. It is the base of relationships in corporate . Everyone is coming from a good house . Every one has a good sustainable salary. Money holds less value for people at top places as they have dollars all the time .

Get the egg on your face Aadhar.

Trying to solve hard problems is the need of the hour , Aadhar. Dont strategise/ optimise for easy and less work in the day to day short term. Put in the extra hours sometimes. It frees you of fear and brings confidence that you can handle such situations. It is not the ones who do less work that excel and grow, it is the ones who stick with challenges and try their hands at them. They take help but don't quit. Even if you fail , you learn.

Make friends with your colleagues. Take care of them like your own.

Just like you, your managers and teammates are humans like you.

They are simply looking for hopeful and positive people who make the workday bearable and fun. There is zero competition. Care for your team. Protect your team. Nurture your team. Be their support and they will be yours. Be very respectful. Be sincere and they will become your teachers, which is the best-case scenario.

"Accept the things to which fate binds you, and love the people with whom fate brings you together, but do so with all your heart."

Marcus Aurelius

Keep Learning CONSISTENTLY, Aadhar.

Do that weekend course. Do the daily DSA problem. Complete that Udemy course. Take that interview. Teach people. These things add up to give you self-belief and confidence in case the tide turns in the wrong direction. Understand concepts like DISTRIBUTION through Social Media, Personal Branding, INVESTING, SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, HUMAN BEHAVIOUR and READING.

If you have not watched Naval's podcast on how to think about MONEY , please do yourself a favour watch this here How to Get Rich : NAVAL

Think long-term and Think like the TATAs. Don't cheat. Don't betray. Be fair when dealing with people. If you do so, the stars will align for you, Aadhar.

What do you want to be Aadhar and then take action today in that direction? Small steps. That is all we need to do today. We all know the effects of Compound Interest. Do not accept the chances of Pleasure. Pleasure is a loan which Nature will take back from you along with interest. Beware Aadhar Beware.

Remember if health goes, everything goes along with it.

Do not misuse and abuse your body and mind for the sake of earning money or pleasure. You know it never ends well. Your body is your temple and your mind is the deity inside it. Don't pollute it with Sugar and screen sugar. Get away from Youtube. Exercise for a few minutes daily. Even a morning walk will work. Stand up from your sit every 20 minutes. Small things add up to bring a positive change to Aadhar.

Be fair with your own self Aadhar and listen to your Inner Voice as it takes you the farthest ...

Do not cheat yourself. Be your ally. Work on your body and mind daily. If your heart's deepest desire is to play the piano or play Table Tennis , at least try to do that during the weekends. If you are a rat in the rat race Aadhar, still be a fair honest and peaceful rat. Mediate, Read and Write as a detox from your digital work life. At least once a day. It helps to clear the mind. And what good is a software engineer without a clear mind, right Aadhar?

"Those who are possessed by nothing, possess everything"

What we do now echoes in eternity.

Do you remember what happened in your class X or in your friedns birthday or when covid happened in 2020 . You do right . So whatever actions you take , have an effect on what circumstances present to you in the future. You present action is capable to turn over your destiny . Your actions live in your memory . Their results are the manifestation of your current situation. Aadhar did a Btech in 2018 so in 2021 when Natwest asked for Btech certificate degree , he was able to present it . Aadhar wasted time in Class XI , so he did not go to an IIT D but he went to an SRM . Whatever you will do today , whatever will remain with you until your death.

If you wish to be beautiful, Aadhar, make beautiful choices. Thats the secret of Mr Shahrukh Khan . DDLJ then Kuch Kuch then Kal Ho Na Ho then Devdas then Swades then Chakde then Don . Exactly now you get the point , right Aadhar ?

You can never give what you do not have.

When you give something away, the Universe takes it as a signal that you are capable of owning/having that thing. Give to the Universe. Ask the Universe to send all its children which are in need, to you. Serve whoever comes to you in need of your help. Give them your best. Serve the universe by serving its children. And I bless you Aadhar that you will achieve peace and prosperity.

LEARNING #1. College is your time to learn skills and follow your heart

Informatica is a place I loved to work at. I received appreciation in my life for the first time in Informatica. Before Informatica , I was planning to run tuitions through Instagram channel called @englishkatution which kind of blew up in Assam somehow during covid and I was daily adding students in my batch in 2020. Being in a great place to work like Informatica, I realized what was missing in my previous workplace - Appreciation and Trust. I understood that I should have worked harder during my college time.

You can call me blunt but professional life takes a lot from you in terms of time and energy . You are no longer the uncaring-cool-going to the moon kind of guy .Once college packs up , the world has a few expectations from you .The world being your family and society .Everything revolves around your package . But I will suggest you to acquire skills in college in some field which does not look work to you . If you waste this time in TV Series and movies and addictions , you will be kicking yourself in a future job you don't want to but have to do . This is not a good place to be . Be skilled . It's not about just marks rather its about what will enjoy doing each and everyday of your adult life .

LEARNING #2. Be Financially Literate

Be aware about the financial assets and their returns . Study the stock market and the debt assets and gold and bonds . If everything in life has some kind of monetary aspect attached , why not learn about money and how to make it work for you . Learn to beat Inflation at least .

LEARNING #3. Don't join a job just for money or experience years on RESUME

Don't get me wrong .I have nothing against any type of company . Product Based companies and startups are the way to go because they will actually let you develop things . Mass recruiters mostly want generalist to fill positions in their support projects .Its a trap as you don't like the work , don't grow any skills , become redundant and pay is actually 1/10 of what you get for a good product based startup and companies . It's better to go for even a free internship in a startup rather than joining any service based company .Build a portfolio NOT a cv .

LEARNING #4. Understand Life and Death

A Human is an animal , although we don't think about ourselves like that . We watch movies , listen to songs , read books and dress up to go out . We eat in restaurants , go to pubs and even go to different continents . Understand that nobody knows anything .There are humans who run the world and then there are those who catch a public bus to reach office . There are humans who discovered and invented great things and there are homeless nameless humans on every street of the country in a state of oblivion . I just want you to take a moment and make you realise that whatever you think you have done , good and bad , will be lost in time . This world has been running , time is flowing from god knows when . There was a time when stone age roamed this world ,then monarchs , then wars .Where are all those people ? No body knows . Please realise that each person in your family and friend circle will perish . Love them while you can . Even you will perish like I will .

LEARNING #5. IT industry is NOT just about coding

IT as we think in college is not just programming .Rather its about teams and how thousand of team members work together five days a week to meet a deadline for a company client . Its more parts management than it is technology . The only way is to understand the requirements of your team and never stop learning .Learn to write emails , understand what people actually need when they speak to you and learn how to prioritise . Thats all you need .

LEARNING #6. Work from Office will get you PROMOTED early.

Work from Home will give you flexibility. I love that too but you can NOT build real connections over zoom calls even with your video on. There is saying called “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes” . If work from office is what it takes to learn and grow in your career, so be it. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

Clear Oral and Verbal Communication is mandatory along with Comprehension skills

A day job at an IT company is a lot more than sitting on a chair and coding . It's about meetings , presentations , strategies and teamwork . Your boss should know exactly what you are working on and there should be a reasonable deadline defined mutually . You should be able to discuss the errors and difficulties you are facing in the daily huddle .You should be able to go to the tester and communicate exactly how urgent is the testing of your fix .

From what I have experienced there are many people who work in mass recruiter and other IT jobs they don't love .They do not care because it is their only sole option to fulfil the responsibility of winning bread for their family . I believe that a human should be able to do whatever he wishes to do . But whether it be film industry or FAANG companies or IIM/IIT colleges , there is a high barrier to entry . There are billions of humans and we do not actually care about what happens to the 'Others' . The only way to break this barrier , I see , is to have a clear goal mindset in college and build yourself and your skills so that nobody can treat you like just another engineer resource . OR if you are already out of college and can not afford to go for masters , take my advise and postpone your marriage plans for a few years and build yourself NOW , one spare moment at a time .

And most importantly , be kind . You are here for few years . Give all the love while you can .
